Doug's Latest Projects

So, Doug's recent summer projects started in the nursey with the changing table, side table, and the book shelf. Next, he decided to do a decomposed granite trail through our back yard to the garden and then down to the goats. Also, he took all the rocks out of our stream, lined it with weed fabric and then put them back...it looks great! Then, our old barn was bothering him and he decided to re-do it (this is still a work in progress...more pics to come). Last weekend, he customized our closet with floor to ceiling shelves and double clothes rods, which is a little hard to see the the bottom left 2 pics, but you get the idea. And finally, he built a gate to prevent "Brutus the Terrible" from peeing on everything. The moral of this story is...there's absolutely no need for me to nest when Doug is staying busy enough with his projects for the both of us;).

Together For Kids

Attention All Blog Followers:)

The hospital that I work for (Sutter Health), is putting on a VERY important walk, Together For Kids. This walk raises money for our pediatric department. ALL the proceeds go directly to the patients, many of which contribute to making a very scary situation more child-friendly (i.e. new toys, books, dvds, wagons, equipment, etc.). This is such a great cause and I hope that it is greatly successful. That said, I am the team captain for our pediatric department, if you would like to join us on the walk, the team name is "Sutter Memorial Pediatrics". Thursdays with Auntie

Today was a very busy day. We started it off by taking a nice long walk. Then, we played and got dressed for the park. We didn't stay long because it was very hot. As Makena put it, "Wa-wa, bye-bye", I couldn't have said it better myself. Next, we met Peggy at Olive Garden for lunch. Makena was very good and ate a ton. I couldn't keep the noodles coming fast enough! After all of that, Mak fell asleep on the ride home and took a 2 hour nap (so did Auntie, but I waited until we got home;). So, here's the EXCITING news...after her nap, Makena went potty in her big girl potty!!! This is very exciting, she is so smart that I'm sure it won't be long now before she's using the potty all the time. HURRAY for Makena and for Val and Chasin!

Scott's Flat Aug. 2009

We had such a great time camping and we can't wait to make it a yearly tradition! Makena had many adventures, as you can see. She sat in the big girl chairs. She wore her new life vest on the boat, which was a little big so at times only her little eyes and nose were poking out;). She drove the boat and lip synched to the music. She threw rocks, who knew how much she would love throwing rocks into the lake! She locked Meaty and herself up in his fencing. And she ate lots of snacks. Who could complain about any of this?!

Doug's Birthday

Makena was the hit of Doug's birthday dinner. She was very busy checking everything out, from the pond to the chair to the lawn and even a pirate's hat. We all fought over who would hold her, but thankfully she was full of kisses that she generously shared with everyone!

Abbie Comes to Visit

Abbie (hope we spelled it correctly) came to visit us this weekend. She and Tucker became fast friends. She is keeping us on our toes...she is VERY busy!

The Nursery is Done:)

Today, Doug put the finishing touches on the nursery. We're so excited and love the way it turned out. Time is flying by and before we know it she'll be here...4 months left (exactly)!

Playdate with Kinsey!!

Kinsey makes her debut on the blog:) Stacie and I had a playdate today and the girls did great! Makena also tried her hands at cooking.

Makena Comes to Visit

Val and Makena came over today to visit us. Makena was looking especially cute with pigtails (of course, Val was looking cute, too:). Mak sure loves her Uncle D!! We can't wait for her to meet her cousin...4 more months!

Logann's Room

Introducing Logann's new room! In the left upper corner is our new glider and ottoman draped with a beautifully knitted blanket from Michelle. Our new book case will soon live in the left corner of the top middle picture. In the right upper and lower corners are pictures of the new closet with pull out baskets. The bottom middle picture shows where the new changing table will be when Doug builds it:). If you can't tell...we're a little excited!!!

Capitola July '09

We had such a great vacation, spending time with Chasin, Val, Makena, and Meaty. It's so nice to be able to be close with family and sincerely enjoy spending time with them!! We BBQ'd, went to the beach, walked around down town, watched fireworks, and just relaxed. We couldn't have asked for a better vacation:)

It's a GIRL!!

So, after 16 weeks we're able to find out the sex of our baby...it's a GIRL. We're so excited to meet Logann and we are very eager to see her in December!

Thursdays with Auntie

So, this week I remembered the camera, only problem...I don't know how to erase old pictures and the memory was full after only one picture. We got lucky though, Makena is looking cute and it's even in focus:).
I have a feeling my memory is only going to get worse, so just hang in there and I'll do my best to keep up with the Makena updates.
This week in Mak's world:
-we took a walk
-she took a 2 1/2 hour nap!!
-we played in the sand box
-we played ball
-she gave Auntie a ton of kisses (voluntarily)!
-she asked for "more" when she ran out of snacks
-she discovered the wonderful world of barstool chair legs, she thought she had found her very own monkey bars!
As you can see, she is VERY busy and growing leaps and bounds every second!

Thursdays with Auntie have returned:) We had a big day of walking, reading, and a visit to see Peggy. Not to mention lots of nap time...3 hours!!
